The secret ingredient to improved customer service is simple: take care of yourself so that you can care for others.
The hustle bustle of the holiday season is right around the corner! Balancing the responsibility of caring for our customers along with preparing the holiday meals, shopping, and attending the myriad of other events can feel chaotic.
Are you administering self care so that you can continue to care for those around you?
The following are a few tips that can help you find the calm amidst the chaos this holiday season:
1. Create an action list: list all actions that you need to complete with the “by when” date then categorize (i.e. Home, Work, Volunteer, School, etc.)
2. Prioritize
a. What is most important to accomplish today?
b. What can wait?
3. Schedule what can’t be right now: if it is not a “must-complete” item, schedule it for next month; scheduling non-urgent actions will allow your mind to let go of that item to focus on what has to get done now
4. Stay focused: handle one item on your list at a time and complete each task with full attention
5. Exercise and Rest: find an activity that energizes you and remember to take time to rest
How simple!?! Follow these 5 steps to take care of yourself this holiday season. Your family and your customers will thank you!
